What should I wear?
Hot Air ballooning is an outdoor adventure so we recommend that you dress in warm, comfortable layers as well as a cap or other hat to protect against the warmth from the burners. As you will have to climb into the basket it is advisable to wear comfortable long trousers. Denim or cotton Jackets are preferable. Please bear in mind as Hot Air Ballooning is a physical activity your clothes may get a little dirty by the end of the experience. Sensible shoes or trainers are essential, no designer wear, flip-flops or high heels please.
Is hot air ballooning safe?
Hot air ballooning is an extremely safe activity, which is highly regulated in South Africa with strict safety guidelines. We are licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority and all of our hot air ballooning pilots are fully qualified. We always use the latest equipment that the market has to offer.
Can I bring a camera?
We recommend that you bring a camera, binoculars or camcorder as the balloon makes an excellent platform for photography.
Why do we ask you for your weight and are there any age or weight restrictions?
The safe performance of all Aircraft, including balloons are restricted by weight, altitude and temperature. Therefore, in order to calculate the safe performance of the balloon, we require the accurate weight of each and every passenger. Weight restrictions may be imposed. Children must be aged seven or over and at least 1.4m tall, with children under the age of 16 accompanied by a responsible adult.
What’s the landing like?
Even though a Hot Air Balloon flight is a very tranquil experience while in the air, it is an adventure activity in the great outdoors and sometimes on landing the basket can drag along before coming to rest. This is how balloons have been landing for over 200 years and is perfectly normal. The balloon and basket are designed for your comfort and safety throughout the flight. During landing you will be in the safe, seated landing position within the basket as instructed by your pilot.
